Unlocking Creativity

Theresa Dedmon

It might just be an ordinary day, but I find it so intriguing that we get to unwrap each moment and millisecond to find out how our existence can go from ordinary to great — from the mundane to the extraordinary.

If we choose to linger in the safety of what is expected, we will bypass the great, confining ourselves to the continual hamster wheel of unfulfilled routine.  If our imagination is never allowed to play or dream, we will find ourselves visionless, bored, and limited to an ordinary existence.

Each one of us has been created to be uniquely creative, expressing the goodness of God in everything we do and say.  We all have a unique factor to bring to the world to help bring the imprint of Heaven to earth.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to waist another minute of my life doubting that I am an original.

I believe God made me uniquely for a purpose.  I can only truly discover, and begin to find my uniqueness, as I dare to be different.

I can only be different as I see myself as I truly am – creative.  I can only see myself uniquely creative as I see myself through the eyes of my Creator.

I believe one of the first steps in finding out who we are creatively is to discover God’s creative messages through what He gives us to enjoy.  For instance, I love the way the sky can be transformed as the sun and clouds play within the boundaries of the blue, and the way words can turn pathways in our mind, so that other’s life work moves us to think and feel differently about the world in which we live.

God’s creativity and other’s creative passion are meant to teach us to be creative ourselves.

And so I am writing this blog to inspire you to find God’s creative message and to live your life with integrity as a son or daughter of the Creator of Heaven and earth.  It’s time to step out of the hamster wheel of what everyone else thinks you should be, including yourself, and discover the way He has created you.

In my book, “Born to Create,” I share: “I was coloring inside the lines of other people’s expectations, which left my signature out of the picture.”

I think it’s time to put your signature on your life.

My passion is investing in people’s dreams through encouraging them to go after who they were born to be.  God’s dream for you is incredible! It is rooted in the way He has made you diverse with so many life experiences, so that your creativity can have so many flavors.

I want to challenge and inspire you to let go of fear, and discover what is waiting on the other side of “what if.”  I had no idea 15 years ago that I would become a writer, poet, artist, and international speaker, but God had it planned all along.  He took what could have been for me ordinary days, weeks, months, and years, and made them a brilliant sunset, so that you could see and receive His power in my creativity.

So, if you could create anything with your life, what would it be, and what would you be known for?

I want to encourage you to find something creative in each day this next week, and just see if your world doesn’t begin to change before your very eyes.

I’m so excited to see how the hand of God moves through art. I have had the desire to paint since high school when anything that wasn’t true to the form of nature was called surreal. I now understand that what my mind sees to paint is actually inspirational and not weird. Thank you for your book “Born to Create”. I’m halfway through and plan on getting your dvd’s so that I can help others in my church to express their creativity and move into God’s plan for their art.

i’m in anticipation of where and how God is leading us to express it.
